This file serves two purposes. Its primary purpose is to not need the CD when playing the game, however unless you have the files from most of the CD already you wont be able to use this. Its secondary purpose is to increase the max unit limit to 1500. I chose 1500 as the max, because I noticed some problems with setting the exe limit to 5000, a rare totala error, and inconsistent values when changing the unit limit slider while hosting a multi player game. The 1000 and 5000 patch both set the exe to 5000 and just change the .ini to 1000 or 5000. I set the exe and ini to 1500. An altered exe was included for totala.exe so if the user does not trust exe files you can use a hex editor to compare your exe file with this one to see what was changed, instead of running a patcher/cracker exe file that could do god knows what else (yes Im paranoid, so what).

When using this exe to start the game, the game looks to the TA folder for the CD instead of the CDROM drive. This means even if you put the CD in the drive, it wont see it, however you can now put in any music CD that you wish to listen to while playing.

To use the anti CD part of this file is going to require a few special steps. You will need a few files from the TA CDs, but you wont need them all if you dont want all of the parts to the game, like the campaign missions etc. You will first need to have TA installed and patched to 3.1c. You must then copy TOTALA2.HPI from the main TA CD to the Totala folder, this file is needed for multi player and skirmish games, it contains the default TA maps and menu graphics for skirmish, it is also the file the game looks for to know if you have the CD. You can then optionaly copy the TOTALA4.hpi file from the second CD to the ta folder, this contains the campaign data for solo play. Totala3.hpi is not used.
If you have The Core Contingency expansion, you will also need to copy files from those CDs to access them. The CCDATA.ccx file contains the units only found in CC, and the map features that are required to use maps that require the CC addon. My CC-Units.ccx file and CC-Featurs.ccx file can be used instead of the CCData.ccx file and save around 20MB at the same time, because the ccdata.ccx file contains files obsoleted by the 3.1 patch. The CCMissions.ccx file contains the addon campaigns for single player. The CCMaps.ccx file contains the multiplayer/skirmish maps. Battle Tactics should be the same way, but the BTdata.ccx file is probly not needed, no new units that are not already in the 3.1c patch.

To use the 1500 unit limit upgrade, just use this file, and have the totala.ini file set to 1500. You can also set the totala.ini file with NOTEPAD/WORDPAD to any value between 20 and 1500 now. The original exe file was only 20 to 500.
